Abstract:
Carbon capture technology (CCT) has emerged as a crucial strategy for mitigating the impact of climate change by capturing carbon dioxide (CO₂) from industrial emissions and the atmosphere. Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) methods. This paper reviews the evolution of CCT, its applications, challenges, and future directions. It examines the latest innovations in capture mechanisms, storage techniques, and CO₂ utilization while addressing economic and policy considerations. Finally, the paper offers insights into future research trajectories, emphasizing the potential of carbon capture in achieving global net-zero goals.
